Seibo and Catholic Education 2024
Date:2024.12.30

In 2024, we have a fruitful progress about Catholic Education because of the movement to promote Global Compact on Education.
In this article, I would like to mention some points from our practice as Seibo Japan, Catholic inspired NPO to feed the kids in Malawi and all children in the world with students to learn social enterprise.

January 2024

We have published the following article mentioning Catholic education through Global Compact on Education from Vatican.
You can see the article from here.

After that, we have got various partnerships all over Japan, with not only Catholic school but other missionary schools, which has a mindset and vision of practical and pastoral opportunity to let students have the experiences of “Global Village” for education curriculum with NPO to learn what happens in the world and what they can commit.

Our partnership we get in 2024

Become a Member of Edu-port : a Platform of Global Education from Japan

Japanese-style Education Using Public-Private Collaborative Platform(EDU-Port Japan Project)is led by the Ministry of Education and Culture in Japan and Seibo became the member of this from April 2024.
It means that Japanese educational culture need that from Catholic ethics and the practice for our future.

Please find the platfrom from here.

Combine the method “Conversation in Holy Spirit” from Synod for workshops

As the director of Seibo Japan, Makoto Yamada is a member of Synod Special Team in Japan to implement the method, we had a lot of opportunities to put the “The Spiritual Conversation” in practice with various missionary groups including Caritas Sisters in the this link.

We apply our collaborative educational outputs with schools, companies and NPOs for Synodal ways of the church and missionaries in Japan.
It triggers more collaboration and communication between each missionary such as Salesian and Jesuit through NPO Seibo.

Presentation at The National Society for the Study of Catholic Education
We had a presentation about our outputs with Catholic schools with actual case studies from Koen Women’s High School and Junior High School in Tokyo.
The students made a presentation online about their practical examples selling Malawi coffee after they studied about the social impacts of it, spreading their activities to the local church and parents.

Please find out about Koen Women’s High School in Tokyo from here and actual academic paper Seibo wrote for the conference from here.

Start the International Baccalaureate (IB) Course with Catholic Mission School
One of the largest Catholic school in Japan, named St. Joseph High School started IB (International Baccalaureate) with Seibo because they believe the Catholic education is sharing various elements with IB such as CAS(Creative, Action and Service).
You can find the actual proposal we made for schools in the this link.

Case Studies from St. Joseph High School

Starting the new curriculum with CEDE(The Catholic Entrepreneurship and Design Experience)
Collaborating with Catholic University of America, we are right now trying to implement the CEDE course, which teaches vocation for young people through practical methods based on Catholic ethics.

We are planning the new curriculum using our projects as an example for students to learn about vocation and introduce CEDE for them to get the chances to immerse into Catholic education.
We are planning the following curriculum with St. Mary’s International School in Tokyo from next year.

You can see the curriculum from here.

Our Vision 2025
-As the movement of Global Compact on Education is still small, we would like to spread it with various schools and educational institutes even from oversea using our international network.

-Going to share what we have done to local missionaries such as Salesian to implement Catholic education into more practical fields so that students can understand their vocation more clearly.

-Spread our network not only with Japanese schools but also universities and high schools oversea including Italy if needed.

Please find more about our Catholic education from the following movie too!
