Seibo Maria’s Collaboration with the Malawian Government
Date:2025.04.06

At Seibo Maria, we believe in working hand-in-hand with local stakeholders to ensure the sustainability and effectiveness of our school feeding programme. As part of this commitment, we collaborate closely with the Malawian government, particularly through local structures such as District Councils and the Ministry of Education.

Our collaboration takes several forms:
Alignment with National Policies: We ensure that our school feeding activities align with Malawi’s national priorities, including the School Health and Nutrition Policy and the Malawi National Social Support Programme.

Coordination at District Level:
We work with District Education Managers (DEMs), District Nutrition Coordination Committee (DNCC), District Executive Committee (DEC) and other local government departments to select beneficiary schools based on need, monitor programme implementation, and share updates and data regularly.

Community and Government Engagement:
We involve local chiefs, school management committees, and relevant government officers to ensure transparency, accountability, and ownership of the programme.

Capacity Building:
We promote capacity development for local volunteers and school staff, helping to strengthen the structures that deliver school meals. For the sustainability of our feeding programme.

Our partnership with government enhances our ability to reach the most vulnerable children, avoid duplication of efforts, and contribute meaningfully to Malawi’s goals for education, nutrition, and child development.
