In early April, an assessment was carried out to choose a suitable site to start drilling for water. The site was chosen based on the proximity of the newly constructed Makapwa nursery to the potential water source. Consideration was also made for a site that would allow the drilling truck access, as the village of Kajawo has no paved roads.
The initial survey involved inserting metal probes (electrodes) in the ground to obtain a reading of electrical resistance. Once the data is collated, the findings help to inform where drilling should begin. As a result of the survey, the decision was made where to drill and the driller instructed to go as far as 55-metres, but to expect to hit water as early as the 30-metre mark. What happened next? See for yourself..
