On the 17th of December, the students attending the Shizuoka Futaba High School donated the proceeds of their annual Christmas event to support school meals in Malawi. As a result, Seibo received a donation equivalent to 2,000 vital school meals in Malawi, for which we are very grateful. A short summary, from the viewpoint of a student, follows!
About the Event
We were delighted to be able to raise enough funds to provide over 2000 school meals in Malawi. For each 100gm bag of coffee we sold to raise funds we knew we could raise as much as 70 school meals per pack. When we explained this to the families buying the coffee one girl was quite excited and shouted out with joy. It was a privilege to be part of an event that made people feel good about their purchase.
Next Steps
I would like to continue providing the same joy to others as the girl in the above example experienced. In order for that to happen we will work hard sharing information on the work of Seibo and by organising workshops, etc. More than anything we want people to take an interest in why we do what we do.
Through Malawi we will introduce charity to Japan!
