From September 7 to 8, 2024, we sold Malawian coffee at Senzoku Gakuen Junior and Senior High School. This was our first time doing so, and I was deeply impressed by the exhibits. Students analytically presented information about coffee, starting from the coffee cherry stage, and thoroughly researched and explained the business model behind it.
Learning about Fair Trade
One of the team members actually visited Ataka Trading Company, where they purchase green coffee beans, and learned in detail about the supply chain. In addition, we held a lecture on the theme of fair trade, during which the representative of Seibo spoke about the significance of activities involving Malawian coffee, the importance of school meals in the local area, and what high school students can do in Japan.
What Can Be Learned from Practical Studies
Through these kinds of studies, students can gain hands-on experience by becoming involved in the supply chain and delivering coffee to customers, which helps them realize their role in contributing to the future of Malawi and the development of the farming industry.
We will continue to support these activities in the future.
