Seibo Activity Report: Sep-Oct 2020
September-October   NEWSLETTER

ABOUT         ACTIVITIES        Contact
Dear Seibo Supporters,

A glimmer of hope. On the 12th of September schools in Malawi re-opened and will remain open until the end of school term in December on a trial basis. During this time Seibo have been asked to continue providing ‘take-home’ food packs while the safety of returning to schools to cook is assessed.

Thanks to the kindness of Seibo supporters in Bulgaria, the UK & Japan our team have been busy providing families of each nursery & primary school student with 'take- home' packs. Ensuring every child gets a pack of their own is our priority and an honour made possible by your donations.

To provide food to everyone involves verifying information provided by parents with information registered at schools and must be carried out in the presence of Health Surveillance assistants and with assistance from the Malawi Red Cross and Seibo volunteers. In October alone the distribution of food packs at partner primary schools took 6 days to complete. Challenges were immense with many instances of undocumented learners and incomplete school records but no child was left behind- thanks to you!

We will continue to post stories from Malawi on the Seibo Japan Facebook page but words alone are not enough to portray the challenges that face the children of Malawi during these unprecedented times. Your contributions have saved lives and we are grateful as always but equally aware that more must be done. If you can help your donation no matter how small will make a huge difference.

Mary & Violet- The Story of Two Sisters

Violet & Mary have 4 children each attending St. Paul’s Primary School in Mzimba. Both ladies run small businesses, selling charcoal and tomatoes respectively. Violet’s husband has left to find work in South Africa while Mary’s husband sells fruit. The two households are reliant on their pooled income as Violet’s husband has yet to find work. Being able to provide their children with porridge in the morning lessens the burden and enables their children to concentrate at school. Mary added, ‘we pray for the availability of resources so you may continue doing this work’.

'You are feeding the hungry'

A Time of Need
Our mission is to provide every hungry child a hot meal at school.  We rely on our donors and corporate sponsors to fulfil this mission and without your help we could not have achieved any of this.

In the words of Mrs. Theu;
'“This is a blessing I never expected. You are feeding the hungry. May the good Lord bless you for what you are doing for us. Words fail me to express how happy I am for this.”

The months ahead will be some of the most challenging Malawi has ever faced and we will need your support more than ever.
