The early months of 2020 have been challenging to say the least. In Malawi our team continue to ensure children going to school get at least one hot meal a day. With increased enrolments at both primary schools & nursery school levels we continue to feed the poorest of the poor. As applies to everything in life we can’t do this alone. Your continued support is even more appreciated at this time
Double Helpings- Twins go to Nursery (Pt.2)
An additional 7 small children received a free nursery place at the end of February thanks to the Japan-funded Seibo Kids programme! Bringing the total of full scholarships to 62!
The above cuddly pair- Takondwa & Tayamika born May 2017- began nursery at 2 years & 9 months at a height of 87cms each. With a guaranteed hot meal daily and access to pre-school education we're confident these two have a great life ahead of them!
Home Visits for Kids in Need of Intervention
Previously we reported Food Packs were donated to families of the most needy Seibo Kids. In follow up Seibo Malawi conducted a nutrition assessment on 55 kids in January. The result: – 9 kids were deemed to be moderately underweight
– 4 kids severely underweight
– 2 kids were moderately 'wasting'
This verified that in far too many cases the meal at nursery school was the only meal these kids were eating. As a result we gave an additional 20kgs of foodstuff to their families and will continue to monitor the children's progress. In addition to the 20kgs of 'phala' the children deemed to be severely underweight also received 'Ready to use' therapeutic food which will be provided every 2 x weeks. After the first interval of 2 x weeks we can report that 2 x children showed signs of initial improvement and we are hopeful for the others. The meals you help provide are vital to young lives.

Feeding Tokyo
Our mission is to provide every hungry child a hot meal at school. Japan is not an obvious place to start our mission or even a country in great need of help. However when we were approached to assist an existing after-school programme providing food aid to needy children in a Tokyo suburb we secured funding from a corporate donor and the agreement of our Directors and are just happy to be able to assist.
