As the above chart makes clear, some of the beneficiaries required further attention. While the majority of cases of concern fall into the category of ‘moderately underweight’ there was also a case of a child showing signs of ‘moderately wasting’ in addition to being underweight.

CBCC GROWTH MONITORING
In addition to the Seibo Kids, the team also conducted similar exercises at our 9 x CBCC partners. Each CBCC was visited on 3 separate occasions as not all the children were present on a given day despite having been given advance notice. In addition, some CBCCs (notably Mwayi CBCC) were unable to provide the child’s date of birth and some children refused to be have their height measured or be weighed.

Summary of Results
A summary graph is included below which shows the main indicators abbreviated. To understand the graph you will need to know the following terminology used:

WA: Weight for Age– this measures whether a child’s weight is low(underweight) or high(overweight)
HA: Height for Age– this is a measure for stunting
WH: Weight for Height– this is a measure for wasting

Colour Codes: Green (normal meaning ‘within recommended measures’), Purple (moderate meaning kids are slightly off the recommended measures) & Red (severe meaning kids are way off the recommended norms).
