April 2019 Activities
-13,498 school children received a school meal at primary schools in Mzimba.
-1,287 nursery school children received a daily school meal at Chilomoni nurseries.
-The April total for Likuni Phala delivered/consumed came to 21.42 tonnes.
May 2019 Activities
– Only 2,1 tonnes of food was distributed to feed 1,287 kids in nurseries & CBCCs.
Note: Seibo’s main food supplier experienced a shortage of materials in May.
As a result Seibo in Malawi were unable to deliver foodstuffs to primary schools in Northern Malawi. This situation was exacerbated by the fact that our storage facility for food in Kazomba Primary was knocked down due to heavy winds. Under better circumstances we keep 2 months of foodstuffs for Chabere & Kanyerere but had no available stocks on hand due to the recent wind damage.
We had previously attained food samples from alternative suppliers which were all deemed to be subpar and must now re-look at improving our storage options to avoid future instances of something similar happening.

As a follow-up Seibo’s team members conducted “community meetings” for the purpose of improving future partnership visiting the following CBCCs: Kachimera, Makapwa, Mlambe, Chilingani, Tawina, Chisomo and Tikondane in early May.
These “community meetings” were attended by Village headsmen, School committee representatives, teachers, Area Development Committee Chairpersons and Village Development Committee Representatives.
New Partnerships: New Nursery Schools
Seibo is currently feeding 34 nursery schools in Chilomoni. At first we were feeding 40 schools but 6 dropped out of the partnership for various reasons including poor governance, staffing & personal issues. Seibo tasked their partners (MTCC) to identify up to 6 x additional nurseries for the purpose of providing a school meal. As such Seibo requested their partners MTCC to identify 6 more schools to replace those that dropped out. Below is a profile of 2 of the proposed 6 x new nursery schools.
