From April 2016 the School Feeding Programme implemented in Kazomba Primary School in the Mzimba District by the Japan Overseas Cooperative Association was handed over to Seibo.
On the morning of the 27th of April a handover ceremony took place attended by representatives of Malawi’s Ministry of Education.
The handover ceremony which took place on the 27th of April was attended by representatives from JOCA, Seibo, Group Village Heads as well as representation from the Malawian Ministry of Education.
The Ministry.of Education’s representative Mrs Victoria Kachigunda later said that “JOCA, and now Seibo, is providing a model that we must emulate throughout Malawi”, “School feeding only happens in 40% of schools presently – this needs to increase”.

From October 2013 the Japanese Overseas Cooperative Association (JOCA) began school feeding for primary school students to boost school results and tackle child malnutrition. The school feeding will continue to use the rice flour sent from Japan and originally cultivated in Tono-City, Iwate Prefecture until July of this year after which Seibo will start to provide a locally available meal called “phala”.
