In February 2022, Team Seibo visited the village of Kajawo to inspect the in-progress Makapwa Nursery. The visit took place just after the tropical storm ‘Cyclone Ana’ had passed, leaving much damage and flooding in its wake. In Kajawo, the road that we previously used to access the community had been completely washed away and on arrival into the village, which we managed on foot, we enquired as to how the village was managing for drinking water and in particular for the water needed to cook a daily meal for the nursery children. The below video best explains the answer we were given. It also explains why we have decided, with immediate effect, to begin funding for a year-round solution to clean water for all the inhabitants of Kajawo.
