How to Make Local Malawian Dish!
Date:2025.01.23

One of the volunteers from Seibo has made the following guide about how to make Malawian dishes!
Hope we could put this into practice with people interested in the culture!

Shima (a type of porridge):
Ingredients: 50g corn flour, 250ml water.
Instructions: Combine corn flour and water in a pot. Cook over medium heat until boiling, then reduce heat and stir frequently until thickened. Add more water if it gets too dry.

Diwo (a vegetable side dish):
Ingredients: 1/2 medium onion, 1/2 medium cabbage, 1/2 medium tomato, appropriate amount of cooking oil, salt.

Instructions: Sauté onion in oil until translucent. Add cabbage, tomato, and salt. Simmer until vegetables are tender (approximately 5 minutes).

Serving: Serve Shima and Diwo together. The document suggests eating with fingers, mimicking the local custom. The final image shows a group of people serving the food at a school in Ghana.
