Seibo and Grapevine Co., Ltd. (located in Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture) have begun selling drip-back coffee made from Malawian fair trade coffee beans, with proceeds supporting Malawi’s school meal programs. This initiative allows guests staying at hotels in the tourist destination of Kyoto City to indirectly contribute to supporting the future of African children.
Grapevine Co., Ltd. is a company that implements projects creating “light for the world” through community design, including the operation of HOTEL ECCLESIA.
The hotel features a co-housing facility for single mothers, Mio ECCLESIA, offering experiential opportunities for guests while providing a community space for local residents.

This blend of social engagement and the creation of a community for all people connects closely with the coffee sourced from the distant country of Malawi, bringing the concept closer to home. It also leads to the creation of a community in the form of a school for Malawian children.
In developing countries such as Malawi, school meals may be the only source of food for children. Therefore, school meals are an important social infrastructure and provide a safe place for children to eat and receive an education, even when their mothers are working. This is particularly valuable given the prevalence of female-headed households in Malawi, where the role of women in the household is significant.
In this way, the support for female-headed households aligns with HOTEL ECCLESIA’s goals.
We look forward to continuing our partnership!
