New Year, New Seibo Kids!
On the 17th February a meeting was held to allocate free nursery school places through the Seibo Kids Programme that provides free Early Years Education for impoverished children. At the end of the 2020 academic year 26 x Seibo Kids graduated to primary school and by the time nurseries re-opened on the 22nd of February thanks to your generosity we were in a position to offer another 39 x children their first opportunity to attend school.
The allocation meeting held at the Mother Teresa Children’s Centre Training Room on the Beehive campus was attended by 4 of our colleagues from Seibo Malawi along with 18 x Allocation Committee members representing different churches in Chilomoni, representatives from Social Welfare and the Chilomoni Police. Of 102 applications submitted initial assessments were carried out on 82 applicants who met the required criteria.
After much deliberation 30 x children were deemed to be immediately eligible for Seibo Kids sponsorship with an additional 10 x children allocated childcare spaces at the Mother Teresa Children’s Centre. The remaining Seibo Kids nursery places will be decided upon pending family visits to be carried out by the Seibo team in Malawi.
An Honour & A Privilege
At time of writing in February 2021 we now have a total of 1,001 children attending Seibo partner nurseries of which 68 children are currently benefitting from the Seibo Kids Programme. We look forward to welcoming more children who without your support would not have the opportunity to attend nursery school. It is both a privilege and an honour to carry out this life-changing work for which we thank you from our hearts. The next allocation meeting is scheduled for April and we look forward to issuing an update soon.
