Introduction of Supporting Projects for CBCC in February 2024
Date:2024.04.06

As of April 2024, Seibo is providing meals to 977 children at CBCCs (Community-Based Child Care Centers) and 1,084 children at nurseries in the southern region. Among the schools where meals were provided in February, we will introduce the school’s situation based on the report received from the local area.

The image shows the transportation of firewood for cooking meals.
At Seibo, we exchange memoranda with schools where meal support can be implemented, and after teaching cooking methods, we work within the community to enable meal preparation in the local area as much as possible. Tiyamike CBCC supports cooking and providing meals by helping each other in their small community.

– Tivwirane Kindergarten

The image depicts the delivery of meals at Tivwirane Kindergarten. The childcare workers are confirming that the meals are prepared in the correct amount as per the records and signing off on it. Locations with childcare workers are operated as kindergartens rather than CBCCs, and each school office manages the quantity of meals and attendance rates of children. This helps in monitoring how much the meal provision has increased school attendance rates and how effectively the meals are reaching the children.

– Makwika Kindergarten

The left photo shows children eating porridge together with their friends, while the right one shows children eating porridge on the veranda. In the case of kindergartens, since elementary schools operate on a two-shift system due to the large number of children, with classes split into morning and afternoon sessions, only morning breakfast is provided as a school meal.

For children from impoverished families, school meals may be their only source of food. Therefore, continuing to operate kindergartens and consistently providing meals becomes extremely important.

– Dyechiti CBCC

The left photo shows children eating breakfast as a meal, while the right one depicts children washing their hands before breakfast under the supervision of a childcare worker. Seibo distributes a liquid called Water Sanitizer to schools facing hygiene challenges, which improves water hygiene when added to water. On the other hand, in communities where water is accessible, hygiene education is conducted in this manner with children.

– Bwemba CBCC

The photo shows Saffi, a parent of a child attending Bwemba CBCC, who came to help with meal preparation that day. In CBCCs where there are many children and few caregivers, scenes like specific mothers serving meals to children while being surrounded by them are commonly observed.

The above depicts the support provided to CBCCs and kindergartens based on reports from Malawi in February. We will continue our activities to support the children of Malawi in the future!
