Bizzy Bees, Chilomoni
Bizzy Bees is located down from the Chilomoni highway. It sits in an area called Four Ways.
There are 24 children here, and three teachers who work on a rota (2 present on day of visit). The ages of the children range between 1 month and 5 years. Parents pay 5000 kwacha for babies and 4000 kwacha for the older children. Lunch is provided if parents afford to pay 3000 a month. This does not happen often. Otherwise, snacks are eaten during the day at nursery.
Bizzy Bees has recently had an overhaul of its rather shabby brick building, and is now held in a newly constructed wooden structure (painted white). It is still small, but table and chairs are available for the children.
Their water source is a tap onsite. Preparation area is available to the side of the nursery. Storage could become available in an opposite building. Toilet available.
The teachers at Bizzy Bees are great at making the most of play. Tyres are utilized outside, as are resources such as wooden building blocks and small bowls. A timetable is followed – a theme (eg. numbers) is generally carried throughout the day in different activities, inside and outside. Monday-Thursday 730-330, and Friday is half a day.
