Activity Report for April 2024
Date:2024.06.13

In April 2024, we received a report about the new support for CBCC that began shortly after the cholera outbreak in April 2023, from Malawi. You can view the initial scenes from the launch at this link.

Matew Primary School
Matew Primary School has 195 students, many of whom are supported by their mothers. Initially, in 2016, the start of the school meals program saw students studying outdoors and an increase in malnutrition among children, but gradually, thanks to support, the school has stabilized its operations. You can see what it was like in 2016 here.

Kazomba Primary School
Kazomba Primary School was the first partner in the northern region where Seibo Malawi started providing school meals in 2016. According to the vice principal, the number of students going on to secondary school has increased, and absenteeism in primary school has decreased.

About 700 children attend, similar to Kaputa Primary School, with students coming to school for meals in the morning and at noon. Without the community’s volunteer spirit, including the mothers who provide breakfast early in the morning, we could not have sustained this effort.

As of April 2024, children are still happily receiving their meals.

Chibanzi CBCC
Chibanzi CBCC is a school where the school meals program started in April 2023. Although it’s a small community, the memorandum of understanding with Seibo has been effectively implemented, and we look forward to its future growth. You can view scenes from the start of the school meals program here.

Katondo CBCC
Like Chibanzi, Katondo started providing school meals in April 2023.

Makapwa CBCC

With the efforts of Seibo staff, volunteers, and school personnel, everyone is working together on this project.

Holy Cross Kindergarten

Next, we introduce a few of the kindergartens in the southern region. Unlike CBCC, kindergartens have licensed teachers, offering a more stable curriculum. CBCC functions as a children’s center within the community.

Meeting with CBCC Administrators
At a meeting with CBCC administrators, Darwin gave a presentation. The Seibo staff (responsible for the Muzimba area) also attended to foster cooperation among the CBCCs and gave presentations.

The meeting attracted many people, showing that school and community members are actively participating in the school meals support program.

In the meeting, hardcovers and files were distributed to safely manage various records concerning the program.

Since April, we have continued to observe the growth of the communities in Malawi, and we will keep supporting the school meals program.
